“LIVING YOGA” to premiere in Thailand!

December 18th, 2008
February 20, 2009 9:00 amtoFebruary 22, 2009 9:00 am

LIVING YOGA has been chosen to be screened at the 2009 Phangan Film Festival (PFF), to take place 20 – 22 February 2009. PFF will take place on Koh Phangan island and more info is available on their website: http://www.phanganfilmfestival.com

From the PFF website:

The Phangan Film Festival grew out of a pure love for meaningful independent filmmaking. Additionally, we are world travelers who rejoice in the cross-cultural expansion that subtly transforms all those who wander far and wide, and we embrace film as a medium for this soul-level evolution.

Following the auspicious premiere events earlier this year, the 2009 festival, to be held Friday February 20 to Sunday February 22, 2009, will mark PFF’s 2nd annual edition. We are committed to providing the local community as well as travelers to this beautiful tropical island with a diverse presentation of high-quality independent films from around the world. The festival themes are NATURE and SPIRIT, two widely cherished and intimately related subjects which bear increasing relevance for both our island and our planet at large.
We hope that this initiative will profoundly touch festival-goers, stimulate thoughtful reflection on our own ways of life, and bring about appropriate attitudinal change and responsible action. For the community, we wish to open the doors to spiritual activism and ultimately contribute to the harmonious development of Koh Phangan for all of its inhabitants and visitors.

PFF also supports the efforts of Green Phangan, a non-profit initiative that educates and advocates a low-impact, sustainable way of life on our island. Current projects include introducing bio-degradable corn starch straws and spreading the use of shopping bags made from cloth to fight the plastic plague.
Location

As in 2008, PFF will take place at the spacious Holiday Beach Resort in the outskirts of Koh Phangan’s biggest town Thongsala. The resort is located 100 meters off the main road that connects Thongsala and Baan Tai. As you drive from Thongsala towards Baan Tai (and Haad Rin) watch out for a big Yamaha shop on your left hand side, the resort’s driveway is right opposite that landmark.

Haverford College (Pennsylvania) Screening a Smashing Success!

November 23rd, 2008

I am so happy to report that Friday night’s “Living Yoga” event at Haverford College was a smashing success.

There were about 125 people who attended. The auditorium was very comfortable (they recently renovated it) and the picture and sound quality first class. Marianne Sutin started the evening with beautiful flute music. We viewed the film, then Professor Gangadean moderated an audience question/answer discussion with Swami Ramanandaji (president, Integral Yoga Institute of New York who is also featured in the film), Hari Zandler and Rene Ragan who all were wonderful.

Everyone loved the film and it was an awesome networking event for those connected with Haverford, the Philly Yoga and interfaith communities.

Attending were representatives from at least 6 area Yoga centers and from at least 3 interfaith organizations who helped spread the word to their contacts.  Special thanks to the Common Ground Interfaith Fellowship who set up a tea/snack table.

Thank you for your love, support and ideas for this event.

Much love,
Sam (Satyam) Rossitto
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Today, an estimated 25 million Americans practice Yoga as a means for managing stress, promoting health and creating a more meaningful life. Swami Satchidananda was one of the first Yoga masters to bring the ancient teachings of Yoga to the West and popularize its philosophy and practices. His role in the birth of the modern movement is chronicled in this hour-long documentary that informs, entertains and provokes self-inquiry. The distinctive teachings he brought with him blend the physical discipline of Yoga, the spiritual philosophy and the interfaith ideas he pioneered.  The role of spirituality in wellness and the link between inner peace and outer peace is explored in the film by featured artists and medical experts.

Ojai, CA Screening — and a Loan Closer

July 29th, 2008
August 21, 2008
7:00 pmto8:30 pm

I completed Basic Integral Yoga Teacher Training on May 17th and went back to my hometown in Ojai, California to write my business plan for my studio/shop/counseling center.  When I submitted my plan to the bank I gave the banker a copy of “Living Yoga” and said “watch this before you read the plan”.  She watched it and absolutely loved it.  It also helped her understand the importance of what I am trying to bring into our community and she granted the loan!

I have just completed my qualifying class for Intermediate Teacher Training.  I will fly back home and my studio will open on August 22nd.  I plan to advertise a free showing of “Living Yoga” for the grand opening and I am feeling excited about bringing Swami Satchidananda’s teachings and Integral yoga to our area.

Screening:  Friday at 7:00 p.m., August 22nd
at:  52 Weeks of Peace, 960 E. #52 Ojai Avenue, Ojai CA 93023
