It was as if Swami Satchidananda, himself, were present to a full house at the Boulder Public Library for this showing of Living Yoga.
Some in the audience had met him, others came to see and learn more about this famous Yogi, whose teachings of Integral Yoga have had worldwide impact. Afterwards people greeted each other and connected, as he would have wanted. There was laughter, as well as engrossed silence as the stories unfolded alongside images and words of Swami Satchidananda (loving called “Gurudev” by his students).
For those of us who have been his disciples, it was a reunion of the heart. We felt the delight of being in his presence and met sangha members we had not known before but seemed to recognize by virtue of our connection to our Guru. For us, it brought back the early days with the one who had immeasurable impact on our lives. Others related the impact of their meeting with him, while some were reminded of their own Guru, and still others found a depth of Yoga they had not known.
His smile, his laughter and his humor. Living Yoga brought to life one of India’s greatest Yoga Masters. It was like a dance through years done with the elegance that was his trademark. Gurudev would have been proud of this film as he was a filmmaker and loved the art of film.
Living Yoga has interviews with some of the most prominent disciples of Swami Satchidananda. Legendary artist Peter Max who brought Gurudev to the US in the 1960s. Dr Dean Ornish (the respected doctor who has helped bring Yoga to the mainstream and author of the brilliant book The Spectrum), the wonderful Dr. Mehmet Oz and others.
Swami Satchidananda came to Boulder in the early 1970s and opened the hearts of Boulderites. Living Yoga has rekindled that Light.
